How to Clean Your Golf Clubs

Though golfing is a fun sport enjoyed by many, it can get down and dirty, especially when it comes to your golf clubs. As we keep our golf courses beautifully manicured at our South Florida golf club, they can still be susceptible to dirt as you’re getting the most out of your game. A golf club cleaning service may be the answer, but you can always DIY. Let us tell you how to make your golf clubs look new again.

Why Do I Need to Clean My Golf Clubs?

You may think that as long as you’re able to get a hole in one, there’s no need to clean your golf clubs. True, the aesthetics of your golf club may not affect your gameplay, but there are some things you should consider such as the grooves. Over time, dirt and grass can build up in the grooves of your golf club and this can affect the quality of the shots you take. The grooves need to “bite” the golf ball to create the spin and control of the shot.

Along with your club heads, you also must consider cleaning the grips. The grips can become slippery due to the buildup of oils and sweat from your hands. When you make it a habit to clean your grips after every round, not only will you retain a better grip, but you’ll also extend the life of your grips.

Now that you know how important it is to keep your clubs clean, follow these steps on how to clean your golf clubs.

What You’ll Need

  • A small bucket
  • A large towel
  • Dish soap
  • A brush specifically for golf clubs

Step 1

Fill your bucket with warm water with a bit of dishwashing liquid, just enough to create some suds.

Step 2

Starting with the club head, use the brush to clean it and dunk it in the bucket of water for a few seconds. Wipe it off with the towel ensuring it’s clear of any remaining debris.

Step 3

Dip the other side of your towel in the bucket and quickly scrub the grip. Make sure not to soak the grip in the bucket as it may cause damage.

Step 4

Once you’re done, set your club aside and let it air dry.

And, voila! A DIY golf club cleaning – no golf club cleaning service needed. This cleaning process is a reliable way to make golf clubs look new. Now that your golf club is clean, you are sure to increase your chances of getting great spin and control on a shot. Have any questions regarding our South Florida golf club?
