How to Master the Natural Makeup Look

How to Master the Natural Makeup Look

The Natural Makeup Look

With wedding season approaching, many brides have been planning for months, running walkthroughs, booking vendor after vendor, and looking for venues for all of their wedding-related events, such as bridal shower venues. One vendor they have probably booked is a makeup artist. Brides want to look their absolute best on their big day, but they still want to look like themselves.

The “No Makeup” makeup look is a top ask from brides that a wedding makeup artist must fulfill. Soft glam makeup is one look that highlights the bride’s natural features while covering any discoloration or insecurities. But how do you achieve natural bridal makeup?

Here is what you’ll need to do to achieve the perfect “No Makeup” look:

  •   Apply your regular skincare routine (prep first to make sure the skin is hydrated)
  •   Use a pore-filling or gripping primer
  •   Find a medium/buildable coverage foundation that fits your skin type
  •   Under the eyes, use a concealer one or two shades lighter than the foundation
  •   Set your foundation with a translucent or setting powder
  •   Work with a bronzer or heavy contouring to accent the shape of your face
  •   Blush should be lightly applied and a complementing shade to your skin tone
  •   Highlighter is optional but, if used, should be put on the high point of the face

Wedding Day Makeup Prep

A proper skincare routine is key to a more flawless makeup application. As a bride, if you don’t already have them, you should test out a few skincare products weeks before your wedding day. It is recommended to give your skin some time to adjust to the new products or see if they have any reaction. Another important tip is to consult with a skincare professional before testing any new products.

When it comes to finding all the right shades of foundations, concealers, and powders, the wedding makeup artist should know how to see the skin tone and undertones of a bride’s skin. This is why most artists will recommend a “trial” run a few weeks or months in advance to establish which shades and which look the bride will need and want.

Getting the “No Makeup” Makeup Look

To achieve the natural makeup look, you want it to look like the makeup is barely there. A light to medium buildable coverage foundation is integral in this process. It allows you to even out the skin tone while covering any blemishes or discoloration. For the rest of the face, the artist doing this bridal makeup should have a light hand and shouldn’t be packing on the products, which would make any face look cakey. Lightly bronzing instead of intensely contouring, feathering brows and not having sculpted out ones, and choosing a natural pink or nude lip with a gloss on top are additional features that help create a natural bridal look. The eyeshadows should be neutral and, once again, a compliment to the bride’s skin tone. Adding a shimmer or highlight to the eyes, bridge and tip of the nose, high points of the cheeks, and the cupid’s bow on the upper lip will leave you with a subtle but very bridal glow. Applying the highlighter to the points of the face where the light naturally hits is what brings this glow to life.

Sexy Wedding Dress vs. Classy Wedding Dress

Sexy Wedding Dress vs. Classy Wedding Dress

At our country club in South Florida, we know that your wedding day, and every detail about it, needs to be perfect. One of the most significant aspects is the dress, and Deer Creek Golf Club has seen so many different wedding dress styles that we can offer a great insight into the world of dress shopping.

That is one of the first steps a bride takes in wedding planning. She probably already has an idea of what wedding dress she wants. We’ve also learned that even though they have the idea of what they want, the debate of sexy wedding dress vs. classic wedding dress is still an obstacle they face. So let’s take a closer look!

Sexy Wedding Dress

Dresses that are bold and make a statement are considered as a more modern style. When shopping for a contemporary wedding dress, you may be drawn towards the sexy, short wedding dresses, or even a sexy, classy wedding dress or two for the brides that want something in between. There are so many different variations of dresses, from the big day itself to the engagement party and bridal shower. If you’re a bride who wants to make a big statement, a naked, sheer, or illusion dress will allow you to do that.

Classy Wedding Dress

For brides who aren’t going for the sexy dress, a more traditional wedding dress would be better. Dresses that are simple and elegant let the bride glow more naturally and subtly. Many well-known bridal shops will have various collections of classy dresses, from ball gown wedding dresses to simple lace gowns. The options are endless. While most are solid white wedding dresses, a few brides like to take their spin on the traditional look. Blush, peach, champagne, ivory, and even off-white colors are used to add a little something to a classy, traditional wedding gown.

How to Choose What Dress?

Still stuck on which dress style you want? At our Florida golf course wedding venue, we recommend trying on as many as you can. Go into wedding dress shopping with an open mind, and the dress will find you. Like we said before, even if you go in with an idea of what you want, which is helpful and will save you some stress, don’t be afraid to step out of your original idea.

Booking your wedding with Deer Creek means we want to make your big day as stress-free and perfect as possible. So while we can’t pick out the perfect dress for you, we hope our insight into the different styles will help you find your dream dress. Contact us today for more information about our wedding venue and services.

Do’s and Don’ts of Wedding Dress Shopping

Do’s and Don’ts of Wedding Dress Shopping

The moment you have been waiting for has arrived; your significant other has proposed! Now it is time to get into wedding planning mode and begin making arrangements. After you have tackled the venue, the perfect floral centerpieces, and the guest list, it is time for wedding dress shopping! But before you head over to your favorite bridal boutique or bridal shop, here are some helpful dos and don’ts of wedding dress shopping according to the event planners at our South Florida wedding venue

How to Shop for a Wedding Dress

Finding the right wedding dress takes time; trying on wedding dresses is only half the fun. We have hosted our fair share of weddings here at Deer Creek Golf Club and have seen some wedding dress disasters unfold. To ensure you have the bridal gown of your dreams, here are a few wedding dress shopping tips.

DO Bring People You Trust to Watch You Try on Wedding Dresses

When you’re wedding dress shopping, be sure you have a supportive entourage that you trust. As a bride, you will not only want honest opinions about the different wedding dress styles you try on but people who will support you no matter what dress you choose, even if it wasn’t their first choice. Surround yourself with people that will bring you back to Earth in honest and supportive ways.

DON’T Try on Wedding Dresses in the Middle of the Afternoon

If you know you will be shopping for a wedding dress with a big crowd, book the bridal salon’s first appointment of the day. This gives you the opportunity to complete your wedding dress shopping before the salon gets too busy. You will not feel overwhelmed and will most likely be able to try on more wedding gowns.

DO Have an Idea of What a Dream Wedding Dress Looks Like

Save time running through countless dresses by going into the bridal shop with an idea of what you may be looking for. Are you searching for a lace wedding dress? Something blush or ivory? This will give your wedding dress consultant a general idea of which wedding dresses to pull and which ones to skip. You can peruse bridal magazines and try some of the latest wedding dress trends to start helping you visualize your dream gown.

Not sure what wedding dress to wear on your big day? We recommend trying on at least one ball gown, one fit-and-flare gown, and an A-line wedding dress to start. This can give you a better idea of what style of wedding dress you feel great in to help you narrow down your selection.

DON’T Judge a Wedding Dress On a Hanger

When wedding dress shopping, don’t judge any wedding dress on its hanger. Oftentimes brides will overlook a beautiful gown because of the way it looks simply hanging.  While it may not feel right at first glance, trust your bridal consultant and give it a shot; the bridal consultant will know that a gown looks much better on a body compared to how it looks on the hanger. Who knows, this may just be the wedding dress of your dreams!

DO Add Accessories When Trying On a Wedding Dress

Accessories can change an entire look, so when you’re shopping for a wedding dress, bring accessories you will want to include in your wedding such as an heirloom that’s been passed down from generation to generation, like a veil or tiara. We also recommend bringing a wide range of different jewelry to get an idea of how it all looks together with the dress. You won’t regret it!

DON’T Be Afraid to Say No to a Wedding Dress

Keep in mind that you are shopping for YOUR dream wedding dress. Although your consultant at the bridal shop is the expert and your loved ones want you to look great on your wedding day, you are allowed to decline a dress. Don’t feel pressured to choose a dress your family and friends love if you don’t feel the same way about it. If you cannot picture yourself walking down the aisle in the wedding dress you’re trying on, then it may not be the gown for you. You will make your consultant’s job easier by being honest about what you want.

Micro Weddings Are Becoming More Popular in the Era of COVID-19

Micro Weddings Are Becoming More Popular in the Era of COVID-19

Planning your wedding probably looked a lot different than it does now after the coronavirus decided to uproot the entire world. There is an overwhelming amount of uncertainty as travel bans, social distancing guidelines, and the number of COVID-19 cases rises. While you might’ve preferred to have a large gathering to celebrate your marriage, however, micro weddings are becoming more popular amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. The special event experts of our South Florida country club are here to share a few things about having a smaller wedding during this unpredictable time.

What Is a Micro Wedding?

A micro wedding is a celebration that honors your marriage with 50 guests or less. The traditional wedding is typically on the larger size, often with over 100 guests. However, with a smaller wedding, it’s a more intimate setting.

When you choose to have your wedding with less than 50 guests, you are more prone to less stress due to fewer accommodations you need to make. Micro weddings can often save you money due to a smaller guest list. However, some couples prefer to spend their entire budget on a macro experience but with a micro guest list at their smaller wedding. You might be able to get the wedding of your dreams while even saving some money too.

The Rise of Micro Weddings

Couples are choosing micro weddings instead of their original plans due to the COVID-19 global pandemic. Micro weddings during this time involve a smaller guest list and a more intimate ceremony. Coronavirus certainly left many jobless and has put a significant strain on the economy. Micro weddings are known for keeping costs down, which is a good thing during this unforeseen chaos.

A smaller guest list allows more quality time you can spend with your loved ones. Larger weddings make it more challenging to spend time with all of your guests. When you choose to have a micro wedding, you don’t have to cut your interactions short; instead, you can spend plenty of time with all of your guests.

One of the biggest reasons there is a rise in micro weddings is due to safety. There is a strong possibility there will be continued travel bans as COVID-19 wreaks havoc on your celebrations. When you choose to have a smaller wedding, you don’t have to worry so much about the travel bans when you keep it simpler. Even if your wedding isn’t until the end of the year or even next year, having a smaller wedding planned can help eliminate the risk of potential downsizing; not to mention your guests would probably feel better in a more intimate setting.

You can also include those who didn’t make the guest list by utilizing technology. You can set up a live stream of your wedding ceremony for those who are sick or at-risk loved ones so they can still witness your special day. You can also send your guests a party favor to make them feel like they were in attendance at your wedding.

While the era of micro weddings is upon us, it’s important to educate yourself on its advantages during the COVID-19 outbreak. You might have dreamed of a large wedding, but keep in mind the benefits of micro weddings. Our South Florida wedding venue is a perfect option for your intimate micro wedding. Please contact us today to learn more about our smaller wedding options.

DIY Wedding Hair and Makeup Ideas During Coronavirus Pandemic

DIY Wedding Hair and Makeup Ideas During Coronavirus Pandemic

Hiring a professional hairstylist and makeup artist are very common for weddings. Unfortunately, due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, you are most likely going to have to do your hair and makeup by yourself. Don’t panic! The wedding professionals at our South Florida country club are here to share DIY wedding hair and makeup trends.

Easy Wedding Hairstyles

These easy wedding hairstyles can be completed with just a few tools and minutes of your time.

1.      Soft Waves

For this look, simply take any size hair curler and section off your hair. Take small pieces of your hair and wrap it around the curler. Hold the hair wrapped around the curler for 7-12 seconds. Make sure you leave about an inch of the ends out to create the soft waves. You can either curl your entire head or just do a few sections for an effortless look. Once the curls have set for a few minutes, brush them out with your fingers, add a texturizing spray, and lock them in with hairspray.

2.      Sleek and Straight

Who says you can’t wear your hair straight for your wedding? The sleek, straight look is very in this year, and it’s effortless to accomplish during the COVID-19 pandemic. First and foremost, for this look, you have to wash your hair so it’s clean, soft, and manageable. Once it’s washed, either blowdry it or let it air dry and then apply a heat protection spray. Set the flat iron to the appropriate temperature for your hair type, apply the flat iron to small sections of hair, and pull down along the 1” – 2” strand. If it’s not completely smooth the first time, pull the flat iron through again. To tame your flyaways, you can use styling products to maximize the sleek wedding hairstyle.

3.      Add Accessories

The easiest way to spice up your wedding hair is by adding accessories. You can use beautiful headbands to tame your hair but also to add something special to your look. Choose a white, bedazzled headband for an elegant look. For a bohemian style, add flowers to your hair or even a floral crown. With the extra time on your hands due to the coronavirus crisis, create your own flower crown for your wedding hair.

Simple Makeup Looks

The best place to get inspiration for your wedding makeup is on YouTube. Follow the step by step tutorials from makeup gurus and complete your DIY wedding makeup during the COVID-19 pandemic.

1.      Barely There – Natural Look

The minimalist wedding makeup has been a massive trend for the 2020 season. Celebrities like Meghan Markle have chosen to go the natural route when it comes to their big day. Achieve the barely-there, natural look by feathering your brows, enhancing the flush in your cheeks, and adding a nude lip. You can also add a hint of sparkle to your eyes and cheekbones to enhance your natural features.

2.      Full Glam

Completing the full glam wedding makeup is going to take time and practice. Gather your desired makeup, and follow along to makeup gurus like Jaclyn Hill, Desi Perkins, NikkieTutorials and Alissa Ashley. Pack on the glitter, smoke out your lashes, contour your cheekbones, add a bold lip, and get ready to marry the love of your life.

The Deer Creek wedding venue is here to help you with any assistance regarding your upcoming event. While doing your own wedding hair and makeup isn’t what you expect, you are still going to look absolutely stunning on your big day.
