A baby shower is one of the more special traditions for you, and for everyone you love to express their love for both the new parents and the incoming newborn. It’s a time for friends and family to share time with the expectant parents and to “shower” them with gifts, love, and good wishes before birth.
At Deer Creek Golf Club, we love to be a part of the special moments in your life. We host numerous special events to ring in the core moments of life. In one of South Florida’s best-kept secrets, Deerfield Beach, location is one of the elements that make it an ideal choice for those looking to hold private events. One of those special moments may be a baby shower. Let’s take a look at why one would throw a baby shower, and how to make yours dazzle.
Why Throw a Baby Shower
A baby shower can ease some due date stress by surrounding the neo-parents with the people they love. A baby shower brings together the couple’s closest friends and family to celebrate something special. Babies require a lot of time and attention when they finally arrive. And while you’re juggling how to welcome the newborn into the world, it’s important to take a moment and appreciate the beauty of a new life. Plus, a couple of extra household items from your loved ones can ease some financial stress as well.
If you’re going to have a baby shower, our recommendation is to find a separate location to throw your party. That will help it feel like an important event, while getting the parents-to-be out of their element and letting them relax. While any park or residence will do, you don’t want to feel cramped, and you don’t want to feel like you’re intruding on others. That is why renting out a private space to throw a baby shower makes the most sense.
We have private rooms with beautiful arched windows and crystal chandeliers at Deer Creek Golf Club. With views of a championship golf course in the distance, our ballrooms are a perfect location for glamor and fun. Our baby shower venue is the ideal destination to gather for your special day.
Fun Baby Shower Ideas
Pick a Baby Shower Theme
It’s always fun to throw a themed party. Whether it’s a favorite book, movie, or sports team, find something that brought the happy couple together, and build your decorations and activities around it.
Diaper Raffle
One of the biggest rackets in the newborn game is diapers. In this activity, people bring in packs of diapers to enter a raffle for a prize. Somebody will leave with a reward, and the parents will go home with four months worth of diapers postpartum.
A Keepsake Guestbook
If you want to make sure you keep track of all who can make it to your party but want something unique for all to sign, get a little artsy and create a keepsake guest book. That is a fun baby shower idea that takes a little bit of extra work, but the payoff is worth it. Have your guests sign a canvas, a wooden letter of your initials, or a onesie. It is the perfect reminder of the phenomenal time you had with your loved ones and how much they care for you and the incoming baby.

The Natural Makeup Look
With wedding season approaching, many brides have been planning for months, running walkthroughs, booking vendor after vendor, and looking for venues for all of their wedding-related events, such as bridal shower venues. One vendor they have probably booked is a makeup artist. Brides want to look their absolute best on their big day, but they still want to look like themselves.
The “No Makeup” makeup look is a top ask from brides that a wedding makeup artist must fulfill. Soft glam makeup is one look that highlights the bride’s natural features while covering any discoloration or insecurities. But how do you achieve natural bridal makeup?
Here is what you’ll need to do to achieve the perfect “No Makeup” look:
- Apply your regular skincare routine (prep first to make sure the skin is hydrated)
- Use a pore-filling or gripping primer
- Find a medium/buildable coverage foundation that fits your skin type
- Under the eyes, use a concealer one or two shades lighter than the foundation
- Set your foundation with a translucent or setting powder
- Work with a bronzer or heavy contouring to accent the shape of your face
- Blush should be lightly applied and a complementing shade to your skin tone
- Highlighter is optional but, if used, should be put on the high point of the face
Wedding Day Makeup Prep
A proper skincare routine is key to a more flawless makeup application. As a bride, if you don’t already have them, you should test out a few skincare products weeks before your wedding day. It is recommended to give your skin some time to adjust to the new products or see if they have any reaction. Another important tip is to consult with a skincare professional before testing any new products.
When it comes to finding all the right shades of foundations, concealers, and powders, the wedding makeup artist should know how to see the skin tone and undertones of a bride’s skin. This is why most artists will recommend a “trial” run a few weeks or months in advance to establish which shades and which look the bride will need and want.
Getting the “No Makeup” Makeup Look
To achieve the natural makeup look, you want it to look like the makeup is barely there. A light to medium buildable coverage foundation is integral in this process. It allows you to even out the skin tone while covering any blemishes or discoloration. For the rest of the face, the artist doing this bridal makeup should have a light hand and shouldn’t be packing on the products, which would make any face look cakey. Lightly bronzing instead of intensely contouring, feathering brows and not having sculpted out ones, and choosing a natural pink or nude lip with a gloss on top are additional features that help create a natural bridal look. The eyeshadows should be neutral and, once again, a compliment to the bride’s skin tone. Adding a shimmer or highlight to the eyes, bridge and tip of the nose, high points of the cheeks, and the cupid’s bow on the upper lip will leave you with a subtle but very bridal glow. Applying the highlighter to the points of the face where the light naturally hits is what brings this glow to life.

Planning your wedding probably looked a lot different than it does now after the coronavirus decided to uproot the entire world. There is an overwhelming amount of uncertainty as travel bans, social distancing guidelines, and the number of COVID-19 cases rises. While you might’ve preferred to have a large gathering to celebrate your marriage, however, micro weddings are becoming more popular amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. The special event experts of our South Florida country club are here to share a few things about having a smaller wedding during this unpredictable time.
What Is a Micro Wedding?
A micro wedding is a celebration that honors your marriage with 50 guests or less. The traditional wedding is typically on the larger size, often with over 100 guests. However, with a smaller wedding, it’s a more intimate setting.
When you choose to have your wedding with less than 50 guests, you are more prone to less stress due to fewer accommodations you need to make. Micro weddings can often save you money due to a smaller guest list. However, some couples prefer to spend their entire budget on a macro experience but with a micro guest list at their smaller wedding. You might be able to get the wedding of your dreams while even saving some money too.
The Rise of Micro Weddings
Couples are choosing micro weddings instead of their original plans due to the COVID-19 global pandemic. Micro weddings during this time involve a smaller guest list and a more intimate ceremony. Coronavirus certainly left many jobless and has put a significant strain on the economy. Micro weddings are known for keeping costs down, which is a good thing during this unforeseen chaos.
A smaller guest list allows more quality time you can spend with your loved ones. Larger weddings make it more challenging to spend time with all of your guests. When you choose to have a micro wedding, you don’t have to cut your interactions short; instead, you can spend plenty of time with all of your guests.
One of the biggest reasons there is a rise in micro weddings is due to safety. There is a strong possibility there will be continued travel bans as COVID-19 wreaks havoc on your celebrations. When you choose to have a smaller wedding, you don’t have to worry so much about the travel bans when you keep it simpler. Even if your wedding isn’t until the end of the year or even next year, having a smaller wedding planned can help eliminate the risk of potential downsizing; not to mention your guests would probably feel better in a more intimate setting.
You can also include those who didn’t make the guest list by utilizing technology. You can set up a live stream of your wedding ceremony for those who are sick or at-risk loved ones so they can still witness your special day. You can also send your guests a party favor to make them feel like they were in attendance at your wedding.
While the era of micro weddings is upon us, it’s important to educate yourself on its advantages during the COVID-19 outbreak. You might have dreamed of a large wedding, but keep in mind the benefits of micro weddings. Our South Florida wedding venue is a perfect option for your intimate micro wedding. Please contact us today to learn more about our smaller wedding options.

There’s nothing more rewarding than a successful event.
This is especially true when applied to corporate events; businesses are grown, customers are satisfied, and relationships are forged. In addition to providing businesses and customers with a pleasant time to build relationships with each other, corporate events are also a great way to gain more business.
Deer Creek, South Florida country club, has some advice to make your next corporate event one for the books.
Determine Your Audience
To attract viable business for your company, tailor your event to your crowd. Figure out what kinds of clients would be most likely to attend an event for your service. An event at one of the golf clubs in Florida, like Deer Creek, would appeal more to golfers and would be perfect for a company selling golf merchandise. With this, you can craft your party, gala, or gathering with a specific audience in mind.
Choose the Day & the Time
Whether your event is at one of the golf clubs in Florida or at a local coffee shop, schedule your event on the slow hour of a slow day. This way, you will be gaining more business during that time, while not detracting from the business procured on busier days and hours.
With this, you should also keep your audience in mind. If you’re hosting a corporate event for your boating company at a South Florida country club, figure out a day and time in which more boaters would be more likely to come. For instance, a Saturday morning may not be a great choice, since your clients may be out sailing.
Provide Contact Information & Follow-Up
Make sure that you don’t leave your guests hanging. Establish some form of contact and exchanging of information, so that either parties can follow-up in the future. Otherwise, the event would have been a waste for your business.
While there’s much more to hosting an effective corporate event, at Deer Creek Golf Club, we hope that these tips and hints help you craft an event that will profit not only your business but your customers, as well.
